DC welder/inverter? I think I saw one like it on another forum. That thing on the bottom looks like an old voltage regulator before they were inside alternators.
I had a similar AC stick for awhile, I liked it.

We had an old one for years until I bought my AC/DC/tig, great working welders.
7018AC rods work the best with one.

We had an old one for years until I bought my AC/DC/tig, great working welders. 7018AC rods work the best with one. Funny. Almost word for word of what I was going to say.... Got rid of mine for the same reason. Bought a AC/DC High frequency stick/tig machine. With the right 7018 AC rod it runs "almost" as smooth as a DC machine.

The test weld pics were done with 6011 , it was the only rods near me , I was to impatiant to go for the 7018's lol

I have the same machine probly from the 80's, havnt used it in years but it is what I learned how to weld with...and mine was free to

great old machine. we've got the ac/dc version sitting in the shop burnt many a rod with that machine

I love getting old crap and making it good! Not much of a rod burner, no expereince, but the leads are neat, and I'm looking forward to the 2nd project! we need one of those.
