Uh, can we talk about lawnmowers in here, like why mine won't stay running? ;D
It will be small engine tech - good for around the shop.
Honda 214HR SXA, the online manual he Honda site said 1983. I thought it might be like, 10 years old, not that old.
Anyway, it has always always worked perfect, first pull every year. My old tenants owned it, and i bought it off 'em when they moved 'cause it worked so good.
This year, I had left the gas valve open all winter, and it all drained/evaporated. So i got a fresh jug of premium and gassed 'er up. It started pretty quick and I mowed the lawn.
Noticed it wasn't working as good as usual, but the grass was long and wet and heavy.
I left the friggin gas valve open again, and the gas mostly drained again. To where? Its not going in the crankcase, is it?
Filled it again, and it will start great on the choke, but as it gets warm, it will start to die and the rpm hunts.. Eventually it quits from what seems like not enough gas, or the ignition dying. It will not run without the choke fully closed in any situation. It used to be fine.
I tried without an air filter, didn't help. Checked the plug, it wasn't fouled, but gap was .012". cleaned it and set it to .030" spec. confirmed gas is getting to carb by pulling line. Removed gas bowl and it was ok, cleaned it. float seemed to move freely.
It will run on the choke when its cold, the rpm's hunt up and down. Once it warms up some (not much) it won't stay running at all. It will start again on one pull, but dies again really fast.
Let it cool and repeat. Same thing everytime.
Kinda don't know much more about them.....my lawn is getting crazy.
