well i'm sick of working on the house so tonight i went out in the garage and worked my way through all the crap that got piled out there and started to play with the buggy a bit. started looking at my doubler and thinking about how to build a shifter. i had an idea from the start and had rue weld an aluminium bung into the case a few weeks ago for me. so in a couple hours i came up with this....even got to try out my new tap and die set devin bought me for fathers day. taped a hole though the arm and shaft to lock them together so it can me easily disassembled if needed. the doubler was built years ago buy rue but was made to work with an auto tranny and would not work with a 5spd and i wanted to keep my 5speed so thats where building a shifter came into play. it shifts so nice and smooth with the vice grips. just have to make a shifter. maybe someday i'll get some time again to do a little more... ;D

that is a kick case cut down to just the gear box.... it mates to a d300. i had a lobbed off kick case before with a devorced 300 behind it but i wanted to shorten my driveline a bit and get less ujoints ;D

a little more work tonight... had to do some trimming for clearances and mods to the stock 300 shifter. then got it all mocked up. all i need to do now is weld up the shifter handle for the doubler then it can be put pack in the buggy. need to wait till tomorrow to get a new drill bit in order to do that though... ;D so here are some more pics stock 300 shifter in the way, also see where the shifter used to be when used with the auto tranny. problem solved had to do some trimming here to clear the d300 input my shifter for the doubler ;D all mocked up the blank plate covering the old shifter... you can see why it would not work with a 5spd.......yeah its stainless ;D pimped thats all for now ;D

New setup looks good, be nice to get rid of the jackshaft and the high speed vibes. Should be more reliable....less parts.

a bit more progress, got everything into the buggy and now sorting out some issues... pimped ;D added 14" to my rear dshaft.... but that is where the issues are. the rear shaft is so long now it interferes with the crossmember that holds my rear lower links also it shortened my front shaft 14" so i got rid of the 2 piece shaft and now using a one piece. but the angle is a little steep.... issue #2 my twin sticks for the d300 and the shifters get pimped as well ;D to solve the issue 2 with the front shaft angle i figured i'd lower the buggy a few inches.... so i dropped it one inch and now i have interference with the oil pan.... so the only way to drop it more is to move the front end out further.... and since i have a front lower link that was badly bent i figured id just build longer links, 4" longer putting me at 110" my pimped out stretch limo ;D but when working on the first link i ran out of welding wire so that's where i stopped tonight. so heres the bent link

+1 internetz for the flashy pimp shifters.
More wheelbase, huh? She's gonna be even longer....and climb better!
