well i ended up trading my 37" krawlers for a set of ton axles. prob a big mistake since i have no idea how i'm going to afford to get enough gearing to turn the tires. but the deal was there so what the hell, might as well jump into it. heres a few pics of the 14 bolt cleaned up a bit and all brakes removed. lower mounts are in. just gotta get some steel to built a truss for the top to mount my uppers. and a shot of the d60, has highsteer arms, 8" ram, and 35 spline slugs, 1410 yoke.

got a bit more done tonight, almost made it a roller till i ran out of mig wire. all i have left is to weld on the lower air shock tabs... still have some small things to do to the rear but i just want to make it sit on its own wheels so i can turn it around and start the front. once the front is in the rear will come back out, shave the bottom, finish some hard to reach welds, and add a mount from the truss to bolt into the top of the cast housing. i did bolt one tire on and then level the housing with the jack. i'll now have more clearance under my axle tubes then i had under the belly before ;D ;D ;D but damn is it ever WIDE....

I knew you would go to tons eventually! Steve's tires eh? I can't tell in the pics but is the 14 bolt full shave or just cut off the tail hook?

I think that Steve wishest that Mike had his tires...LOL Think that the tail hook is still on the 14,he'd be missing the lower bolt if it was cut off. It's not going to bother him anyways.

I know I wanted those tires! When I cut the tail hook off mine I left the bottom bolt and just ground the bottom smooth like a ramp. Not a full shave.

do you have to plate the truss to the rear end for strength or is this the way it will be?

it will be bolted to the top of the cast housing. all that finer details will be done when the rear end comes back out. and well i guess its time to let the cat out of the bag..... heres some pics they make me smile ;D ;D ;D and the front work begins ;D ;D
