Worked on the emergency brake contraption a little today, then jacked the TJ up to replace the exhaust. 5 of the 6 skid plate nutserts let go, so I drove it to a muffler shop and left it there. ;D I hate that POS.
Tonight turned out good, got the crossmember changed to accept the new adapter, filled the tranny and transfer case with gear oil, just ujoints on the new driveshafts and some shifter tweaking left. The driveshafts turned out to be the same length, bonus. Only a NAPA here, so I'll have to get some good joints in metro.

i could imagine myself frigging with the dual shifters for weeks. making parts, getting it perfect....that a real mod! not a repair.

I'm running the two shifters from the passenger side to the drivers side, to my original hole in the floor from the old transfer case across the top of the adapter. It is a challenge, I've been to the local welder shop twice to get them heated and bent, now I'll take the whole Jeep there and finish it. I need a rear tow point welded on anyway and don't trust my welding for that.

Twin sticks are done. Not sure I'd do it again, I have a lot of hours in them. Sticking them up through the floor is one thing, but bringing them over to the drivers side is a lot of work. Have to miss the trans shifter, the seat, my leg, and each other. Glad that's out of the way! Digging holes with a front wheel is fun though. I know your pain! Did the same thing when putting the overdrive in the 56 pick up. Four shifters that can't hit anything else, but still within reach is a pain in the a$$ to do, but looks great when finished. The cool part is that they all in a row. And my favorite question is when people look in the truck and say what are they all for??

You should have bought a set of cable shifters. www.northwestfab.com/Shifters.html

Thanks for the pic, you reminded me I need to put a vent line on the D300. The cable shifters would look out of place with the rest of the redneck engineering.

Alan's upholstery, my neighbor. He does a lot of antiques, hot rods, convertible tops, furniture, boats, etc. There is always a nice car or boat next door, sometimes 5 or 6.
