I have been making some changes over the last few days , here are the pics ( back to photobucket again )
I have had this 3 in body lift kicking around for a few years
I took the pucks down to Jan`s and cut them all in half with his band saw
and got some hardware
The body lift install
I loosened all the bolts on the driver side , and removed all the bolts on the pass side , and used a bottle jack to lift up the body to fit in the pucks . Every body bolt came out no prob
Over to the drivers side
Then the front clip
It went in easily and was done in 45 mins
The second benefit of having a hoist , is to take off the tires and drop the jeep to make it easier to get at the engine bay etc
In comes the engine hoist to do a MML
I got the drivers side out no prob . I had to take out the alternator for the pass side
I used some 1X2 to make the spacers for the MML
Drilled the holes in
I had to grind down a wrench to fit inside the 1X2 to tighten one side of the mount , and weld a stud in bellow it ( I forgot to take pics of it )
Installed
Pics of the rear JK shocks I swapped in
The old factory trans skid is fubar`d
So off it comes and the trans mount has seen better days lol
Trans / t case held up with a 2 in ratchet strap
I had a spare in my parts pile
The exhaust hanger in the trans , was made of thin wall pipe , so when it rotted / broke , it left a hole in the cat
The oil pan had been hit a few times too
The exhaust was in need of some fixing , and lop sided . This needed to be fixed too
So out it comes . it was also loose at the header
In with the newish . I cheaped out and went with the glass pack
I cut the old hangers too , so I could raise up the tail pipe
I had this exhaust end laying around lol
Now that those things were fixed up , I could move onto the new trans skid , TT
Started with 2 , 21 in lengths of 2X2 , 1/4 wall
Drilled the recessed holes with a 1 1/4 hole saw
This is where I find out that the 4 and 6 cyl frames are different , or its the year , not sure . But another great reminder to measure everything first ! I measured only the driver side
The arrow is where the hole should be
I drilled a new hole , and used the plug to fill in the old
I cut and notched out a piece of 6 in channel
Made up a trans mount plate and welded it inside of the channel
So I can recess the bolt holes like this ( holes are off a tad tho )
Wedged out one side of the 2X2
Closed it up to weld it
Cut a 45 on the other end and capped it
Cleaned up all the welds and test fit it
I have to make clearance for the cat
Still have to finish the skid , tomorrows another day
