i had some laying around for bracing, and bought 3/16 to skin them. should be able to grind it right over stuff.
the skid will go from the doorline, down to the frame.

If you weld the body to the frame how will you ever pass inspection? I contemplated doing the same instead of redoing the floor but didnt want to be bothered trying to make it inspectable by fabbing up body monts or moving the stock ones to inside the frame.

Hey Mike, long time! hope all is well.
I'm just poking it with a stick......had to be done, the headers were fawked. snowballed into this.
shouldn't take all winter! maybe just a week or two or three.
this round will see boatsides, regular exaust manifolds, single exaust, and some kind of new gastank.

put in a few hours today, got one side in. its just made of scrap, don't mind the surface rust/flakey paint. cowl support and plate over heater motor/core holes. rear tub crossmember/rollbar support. it wasn't pretty to begin. i found some solid metal. skin mock up. lots of plasma trimming and on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off welding it in nice tight seams done from the rear. huge amount of clearance! 32" at the "rocker".

i need the crane in the yard! lol it was really temping to cut the back off....juggy, then I'd have to link and better axles.....just not the rig i want to get into all that with.
so I'll gear it up like this, and it will be good for another while. I've had this thing for 7 years. (share it with my brother too) so its going to be around for a while. leave the axles alone, and just have it "classic" Jeep able to be used for stuff. trail, snow run. yard work. not a hardcore crawler, but very much an all-round survivior.
