Never seen something boarded like that before. Done for strength? Love the rock wall too. yes for strength , we block the corner's in too . our guy that does the rock walls , lets us play in 3 pits of his and a trail on his land

It is very interesting to see traditional techniques, especially from an area with such an extensive history of gifted (wood) tradesmen. you probably can't get a crew like that just anywhere.
At work - they cut down a bunch of nice bushes and put in (fake) conrete blocks with details to make it look like stacked slate. It looks like shit and manmade as an Iphone. Not natural looking at all. They could have used the round boulders laying around everywhere for free, and it would look 10X better, and cheaper to boot.
Next year they will have chipboard printed to look like blocked corners. lol

Next year they will have chipboard printed to look like blocked corners. lol Yes that's sort of it lol , We block in the walls with 2x6 on it's edge , then we split the boarding in on the outside and use the blocking for nailing the ends of the boards on also . It's a traditional way of building and easily 35% stronger .
