Seeing Scotie's place motivated me to clean up my little workspace to try and make the most of it. That and just wanting to get ready for winter. Didn't think to take any before pics... but I'm still not done either. LOL This wall pretty much had a pile of junk lining the length of it. The plan is to put up shelves and get rid of the plastic shelves to reclaim floor space. as was this one (pile at the door's to go in the shed) Haven't touched the workbench corner yet. picked up a locker from work they were gonna throw out. I'll paint it at some point. Basicly for coveralls and PPE Wipped up a welding cart with stuff I had laying around. It ain't pretty, but it's better then nothing. I've got one question though; what do you guys do with your metal? I've got some stored under the workbench, but my plan is to build a real workbench and leave underneath open enough for the welder and chop saw. Any harm in storing the metal in the shed?

Glen it will rust alot faster in the shed. And it will be cold in the winter. For storage a hanging shelf works good, a downsized one like mine.

As long as its not getting wet, or in a soaked chipboard crappy shed, it will remain free of scale. Might get a little flash rust on it, no biggy. I have my shorts in milkcrates under the workbench. Long stuff is laying on the floot of unheated, unsealed baby barn...its been fine for 2 years. i like the locker. wooden welding cart, not so much. lol That's just to tide you over, I won't make fun. you have a ton of tall storage there with those big walls. Lots of room for (household?) storage up there if you make overhead shelves. you could have two 2' shelves running the length of the tall walls, above your head. (in other words, 4' down from ceiling would be the bottom shelf)

HELL NO I'm not storing anything in the garage! LOL
The "office" is the storage room, as well as the utility room, and the shed for non-house stuff. Phase II of this clean up will be to build shelving and organize the shed.
I'm trying my best just to keep tools, and stuff that may freeze in the garage. (spray cans, etc)
Why no to the cart? Fire hazard? I could probably bend up a metal cover for it.

That cart should be for moving furniture! How is the bottle secured?

How is the bottle secured? It's secured by my left hand as I push the welder with my right.

wood and steel. Its just not the way. You need a steel welding cart. eventually. nick the casters off that furniture dolly when you have some spare time. And yeah, the cylinder isn't chained.

LOL, like I said... it took me all of 15 min to make, and cost me $0. Better then dragging the welder and tank around. I do have an idea to secure the tank. Well, this thread was supposed to be about the clean up, but I guess it can be about the garage itself. It's 15'X20', with in-floor heat. 2 accesses from the house; one goes into the pantry, and one into the mudroom. I NEVER use the mudroom door. LOL

It's not much, but I wanted to upgrade my workbench. The old cleared out Framed up with 2X6 & 3" screws (2' deep, 5.5' wide) Skinned with two layers of 3/4" Notice the welder fits... I just have to tilt the tank to get it there. The plan is to skin it with 1/8", peg board along the back side and cabinets above.

Before you go too much farther, skin the whole thing in a light layer of sheet-metal, right up the wall a few inches too. This saves burning if doing welding near it with spatter or grinding.

That was the plan for the top... but I guess peg board is probably quite flamable.

Looking good Glen, I have a cart from a pressure washer if you want it. It has rubber tires and a broken gas powered pressure washer on it. LOL If you want it, it's yours!!!!
