I was over TDog's and saw that he had brought home some scrap steel building materials. He was gonna have it around for small weld repairs. Its metal walls from modern small scale steel buildings. Or to use instead of lumber. so I says "no,no, its galvanized, you don't want to be breathing that in!" i talk him out of welding onto it. A few minutes go by - so I says 'hey man, what are you doing with all that steel?" ;D So home it comes with me, to try to make some shelves out of. I have just the spot, but its gotta fit perfect. A few quick zippy cuts of the grinder later (with lots of ventilation and a mask) and I have some workable lengths. Used the footer/header type on the sides, and the '2x4' going across. It is 14G and formed, has quite a bit of strength from the shape. I can stand on this little unit no problem. Used self-tappers to join it. Easy! Made to fit a bare spot I had room, against the wall in a dead space between toolbox and vice. The purpose is to hold plasma table trimmings that are re-usable. Its a waste to throw out all these little shapes! I found this to be an enjoyable little project, relaxing. It was free (thx to TDog), and serves the purpose perfectly.

yeah, it doesn't look scabbed together, that's what is neat about it.
those plastic boxes clip in too. fit a bit tight, they are at PA for under $10 for 9 in a box.

I found it easy to work with and very strong. To make a similar unit off the plasma table, I'd be looking at $50 in steel. look how nice it fits, it can hold a couple hundred pounds, the shape is stong in the center of the span, it can't rust, it was free, it can hold plastic buckets, etc, etc! Your hate is blinding you to the awesomeness of my shelves. Open your cold heart and love again. life is too short.

Hmm, this would make a great spray can shelf as well.
