I was on my way home today and a newer Sierra towing a flatbed with a flat fender on it merged in front of me. Naturally, being drawn to its od and primer exterior, I followed it home. I got talking to the guy who said the jeep (52M38) was his grandfathers that he inherited. Familiar story. We talked about it for a bit and he said hopes to follow a similar build plan to what I hope to do. I told him about the site, he seemed keen on it. Hopefully there'll be another active flat fender in the area.
On a side note, I think that's what's cool about jeeps. If that had been a women I followed home drooling over asking questions she likely would have been creeped out. That just doesn’t happen with jeeps. They and their owners just seem to get it.

Cool! I used to see a red flat fender bombing around Sydney last summer. There is also a guy who works at the NSLC on Welton St who owned/owns one too. The rumor of the red one is that it was a Baddeck area, summer resident who owned it. I can't wait to get another JEEP on the go

There is a minty fresh white one around Baddeck in the summer. Looks brand new and utterly stock. Like a historical item.
I think that guy might be on the forum a little bit sometimes.

I think I remember seeing the red one around. Was it a flat fender? I think it was parked on the water side just before the golf course. There's one on Coxheath Rd to, just before Mountain Rd. Ronin told me your looking for a damaged lj Johnnie, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Not to clutter the site with useless info but it turns out this flat fender is a Ford, which is interesting. It has a L head with JEEP on the top. I thought the L heads had Willys on top?

There is a green late forties flat fender tooling around Baddeck this week. We have pics. Saw it a couple times.

Does it look rebuilt? There's a nice light green one in the garage nest to the wharf. He brings it out once in a while. Usually parked there on sunny days.

The Coxheath Rd one? Ya that's Gilbert. I've been talking to him. He has a few nice rigs that he built. Talented man that's for sure. That's where the parts I replace will go.

I got a call from a guy in NFLD about 2-3yrs ago. He said his relative from Coxheath passed away and had a boatload of "old army JEEPs and parts". There was a running 1960(?) And an earlier one too. IIRC there were half dozen engines and a barn full of parts. I wonder if this is the same family.

Sounds the same. I've only spoke to Gilbert a few times but he mentioned to me that he ended up with alot of Fred Wallace's (I think that was his name) parts when he passed. I believe Fred use to do some work on my (them my grandfather's) M38. Ronin knows more about it. Ronin?...
