I've been using straight CO2 for years without issue - $20 for up to 20lbs tank I believe but you own the tank.

Liquide Aire should be having a special starting April 1st; Contract for 3 years is $90 for a mid sized bottle, and the first fill up is free. Limited selection on gases for this, I think it is their Blue Shield 8.

get all my stuff from Praxxair - I have a couple of 5 lbs tanks for obo, a 10lb and a 20lb for welding - I don't know how long they last or how much wire as I don't really weld continuously for any great periods.

U give them your and they replace it with a other one, so if you get one that the expiry date is up it might be even less then 5 year. That why i lease mine and for the price that DND get its not worthed to buy cylinder.

I own a bottle and do not pay for any pressure testing etc. When I get a "fill" it's actually an exchange for another bottle. Linde supplys the gas through Napa and takes care of all the testing etc.
I guess it's likely worked into the price of the fill...

That why i lease mine and for the price that DND get its not worthed to buy cylinder. When you own the tank....you don't actually keep the same tank when it gets refilled. They swap you a full one for an empty, and you pay for the gas. Any full one you get, is going to have a good date. If you bring in an empty tank with a bad date, you get a good tank to leave with, and the bad one is taken out of rotation, and either disposed of, or sent for pressure test. Same as if it's leased. The customer does not directly pay for this service. It is how the industry/gov't standards gets old tanks out of circulation. I don't see any drawbacks to this, its a good thing. Free tank testing really.
