Our old Becca 140 (bought it in 1989) has been a great welder, but it was time for a new one. This was on sale at Car Quest, so dad and I got one. I've got to get some solid core wire for it, but it welds great with the .030 flux it came with. It has a quick change plug so you can weld with 110 or 220. It's a 140 amp welder on 110. I like having the option of 110, I sometimes have to take a welder on locations where there is no 220.

Looks like a great welder Alan. My brother has a Hobart Handler 120 and we have been using it for years. Some parts are starting to get wore and need replaced, but it is still reliable. I have nothing bad to say about a Hobart.

My Hobart is a trooper. Old APJ/Bennet welder still works great. It has 300,000kms on 'er, put away wet, if ya know what I'm sayin!
The dual power is neat, very good option.
Mines 135A on 110, will do 1/4" single pass, so yours should have no issue.
Congrats! Hopefully many years of service.

Nice. The old Becca did you well, it deserves a retirement. Think I will be able to weld with this one? LOL

#3 chiming in on the Hobarts. Paul bought his Handler 135 6 years ago now, damn thing won't de, and will weld anything we throw at it. It's been the primary welder for about 5 major rig builds.

great welder
isn't a hobart just a miller welder it looks just like my miller Hobart uses plastic components where Millers have metal. Otherwise I think the design is pretty much the same right isn't it like a chevy vs gmc trucks

My Hobart uses a Miller gun and liner, and has steel wire-drive wheels and cast drivewheel housing. But yeah.
Miller bought them out and made Hobart their more affordable brand name.
Some light searching says they are made on the same assembly line, with some less expensive components.
I think mine was made before the buyout.

The drive housing on everything but high end (like $2000+) is plastic these days. My old Becca is plastic and it's fed A LOT of wire.
The drive roller is quick change on this welder, and each one has 2 groove options.
There is a spool gun for it too.
