I REALLY REALLY like that cross member idea. If you don't mind I may try and incorporate that same design into my TJ when it goes flat belly. since the bushings are built into the cross member now that eliminates the need for the rubber mount correct? Which would allow the transmission to ride lower. well it would all be relative. Nice build! Ya go ahead.

Yep, would be great on a TJ to be able to drop the skid to service the trans/driveshaft, and it still be mounted to the frame. My buggy is like that too.

Andy's been hard at work the last week or so. Its all starting to come together and looking like something. Andy started on the stinger and fender tubes. Just peaking over the hood. I didnt want a ungodly stinger up front just something to protect the winch. Got the drivers side fender tube in place, this is also what the fenders will be mounted to. Duh, I guess you already would of figured that out with a name like fender tube. Anyhoo this is what it looks like without the fenders and front clip. I got allot more comfortable with Andy's welder and after welding a couple of tubes and getting Andy's approval (making shore he is ok with my welds) I continued welding all the tacked tubing I could find. While I was welding, Andy bent up the rear floor section for the rear seat area. We ended up cutting it back off cause it was too high and too short. The wheelbase was supposed to be 110 now its stretched to 114 to accommodate the fuel cell out back. Andy fabbed up the drivers side "tree tube" as he calls it, I'm calling it a "rock rail". he still has to install the small kick out section at the rear of this. Andy finally took the time to clean up the shop. I might add it looks pretty dam good and clean. for now. He started to make up the B pillar "X" brace when he happened to break his welding wand tip. I can just imagine how that happened. So now that he cant weld until he gets the wand fixed he fabbed up the rear 9" axle truss and upper arm link mount. He is trying something a bit different on the location of the upper arms, due to where the fuel cell will be mounted a bit low in the frame. I think I will fill in the open space with a dimple died plates, what do you think. it will add strength and style all in one.

Really moving along. I like the A-pillar minor bar and dash bar setup, and the door X sweeping into the B crossmember. That stuff looks nice.
9" start looks like it's going to be cool looking. Brackets with tube thru are fun to make.
I vote dimple dies all the way. lol
ps: my wheelbase is 113", long like yours will be. Should be an advantage for climbing.
pps: shop looks good! Lots of boxes and bolt bins.

Andy is working nights this week, so after he gets some sleep he out in the shop working away on the buggy. Looks like he might get more done now that no one is showing up to talk to him. lol He made some "kick-outs" for the rock rails, which will double as steps to get in the front and back. Oh and the dimple die's just look cool. Andy redesigned the rear floor section, by lengthening it to acomadate the fuel cell, and lowering it as well. looks allot better now. He also found time to fab up some lower suspension links for the rear diff as well.

Well I received more parts today for my Buggy. Lets say these are my comfort parts. lol A 40" 80 LED light bar, and 4 led DRL lights that I will be using as rock lights. A marine AM/FM/CD/Ipod/mp3 player with 4 marine speakers for the riding tunes. 2 more round LED lights for the front are on back order so they will be along shortly.
