I figured its time to start one of these threads. Gotta stop finding cool stuff on the net and think "Hell I can build that for cheap...." So here's my latest. A small bender for my Princess Auto 12 ton press. Forgive the messy garage. Winter catch all season Here is the start of the blade. The bevel was cut with a hand held milling machine...... A grinder! ;D Uploaded with ImageShack.usHere are all the pieces assembled but only tacked together. But you get the point. Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usThe base is made from 1/4" plate. The bottom die is a piece of 1-1/2" angle. The rods are 3/4" round bar. The top die is a junk of 1/2"x4" plate with pipe sleeved over the round bar. I would have liked to had heavier plate for the top blade but that's all I had. Have to put flat bar on the sides of the bottom die and weld all the parts. I have to get better return springs. I will try PA in the coming weeks. I will take pictures of the other junk when I have time. Keep in mind all the stuff I made is made with basic tools like drills, grinders, welder and round files. With the exception of the tube roller. I used a torch for that. And a buddy machined the rollers but now that I have a small lathe I can make different sized rollers. Who else?

Wouldn't the bottom "die" need to be less then 90deg to compensate for spring back?
Very nice work BTW! I'd love to have one.

I have attached a link to jigs to cut circles with a torch or plasma cutter. I have fabricated both the calliper style and the rotary wheel. I like the rotary wheel over the calliper as the hose/ power feed gets in the way when trying to make one continuous cut. I like using the rotary wheel and mount the torch to a fixed position and spin the metal. weldingweb.com/showthread.php?t=32813

But in answer to your question I plan on adding a small piece of flat bar across the top inside of each side to allow for a tighter bend. If you can picture that. Fairly easy to make. You should make one!
