we picked up a basic miller inverter stick machine last summer, around $90 for the 150 amp. i haven't used it a great lot, but it's been a good machine so far.
i have a chineese weld king 160 that i use all the time. works fine for the 3+ years ive run it.
one of the other contractors just picked up an esab version. it's a bit larger then the miller unit, but was about 100$ cheeper. so far they seem to like it.
i run a scratch start tig on mine. it works fine for the ss i'm dealing with. i've got a high frequency machine in the shop for alum work.
