Curious how others sort/organize their sockets and other tools. Was using the metal rail types for a while, but never liked them. Picked up a set of the plastic holders with the pegs (PA has em for the best price when on sale). I like these the best, easy to see which ones are missing, easy retreival, but they take up a larger footprint in the box. Also, if you have OCD and don't want empty pegs, then don't buy these...cause you'll find yourself spending lots of $$$ on sockets you'll probably never use to fill those pegs...ask me how i know..lol. Either way, finally managed to fill them this week. Gonna finish off the impacts next.

I have a bunch of the magnetic trays stuck to the open lid of my top box.

I don't have a good solution, use a mix of everything from the original layout tray that came witht he socket set, to pegs, to clip-rails. The clip rails are annoying, too tight. The pegs are too deep for my drawers, have them out on a shelf, and you can't see the #'s on any of them.
I want an all-new set of 'everything', with the big laser-etched size markings on the sockets. The holders shouldn't really be marked, or you have empty spots, or your stuff won't match in some manner.

I hate the plastic pegs for one reason , there is not enough room for the bigger sockets to fit and or the peg is too big for the socket to fit on I am going back to the clip rails I don't have a good solution, use a mix of everything from the original layout tray that came witht he socket set, to pegs, to clip-rails. You will hate the laser etching , they wear off with use , I would avoid them x2 - I have a couple different brands which are worn off - particularly one I left outside one night when it rained by accident.

the peg is too big for the socket to fit on I found this the case as well for a few, but what i did was drill out the socket of the excess metal from the casting.

Scottie, flip your sockets the other way!

I have them in three different spots.. one bag all loose, one big drawer half loose and half on metal clip rails and the rest randomly scattered throughout the barnage. This way I spend the MOST TIME POSSIBLE searching for the right sized socket only to find out it was a 14mm not a 13mm and have to do it all again. The only thing I always know the location of is my throwing hammer for when I get pissed off and have to vent.

always in the hole in the wall you left it in? Nice strategy... though your socket organizing method would require me to purchase more hammers.
