Ok!
Drove down to Middleton last night to deliver parts to Mudmagnet and burn some fuel. lol
It still deathwobbles, so that sucks. Chasing TRE's that don't really feel bad now. The wheelbearings def. had to be done.....was hoping that's all it was. But no. Highway expansions joints with bumps after them are throwing it into fits.
On the upside - digital display was showing 18.2mpg on the drive home. Filled up in Middleton, then again on Main street.....$25 even. Just driving normal, not trying to feather it along. 100-120km/h depending. About an hour and 40 minutes.
I'll hand cal my receipts later, saved and wrote down the km's.
I think the tire size is throwing off the ODO, so I was just kinda looking at the dollar amount so far.

Too much +caster combined with too much +toe will do it every time, other than that sector shaft play or worn control arm bushings. The sector shaft play can be cured with a brace.

thx for sector shaft info, I'll check it. box almost seems like it might have play too.
I'll be checking the toe during the course of the pitman tierod replace. the TRE cover is all cracked and filthy grease. Caster - cam bolts are in great shape it looks, can see the scribings. I'll lay it right back like the old black ZJ. lol off the charts!
I bet the same guy who invented Torx was on the design team for the Jeep/Dodge 5 link front ends!
damn deathwobble! lol

I'll look into the lift pump. That supplies fuel to the high pressure pump, eh? Its a lower pressure pump to bring fuel from tank? Whats with the syn. diff oil comment? What is your experience? The owners manual says use synthetic 75W90 GLP5, do NOT add friction modifier. I picked some up, but didn't do the job yet. The limited slip is nice and tight, she'll leave two strips. i was thinking clutch pac style. ive had used the syn oil that claims modifer not required but still had to add it after a test drive. i run a airdog pump. i like it because of the filters, make it easy to change. keeps 18psi all day towing, some of the other pumps drop off to 13 or 14 when loaded up for long.

Thx Casey. so I was working on the steering, and found the ball joints are bad. Couldn't get stuff to move the other day...I greased it all, drove it, now stuff is bad that was good before! Balljoints, yay. Oh well, all the antiseize from the unit bearing job, it will fly apart. Back to the Hyundai for the weekend.

You will change those more then tires I've been reading its a design flaw on the AAM. the joints aren't in a line, they are offset. the lower takes all the weight load, and the upper is more like a kingpin, and gets the side beat off it. But the 98 with the D60 had such a shitty interior!

Not everyone thought so! lol I had fun, not in jail!
Balljoints - I'm reading the Moogs don't last worth a fawk, because of the AAM design issue.
I usually run Moog stuff, the rest of the steering stuff I've been replacing has all been lifetime Moog 'problem solvers'. The internet forums are saying go aftermarket, which is out of my price range, or try the XRT's. (XTR? something like that, associated with TRW line)
What are you guys running?

On the lift pump: your truck being a cr has the in tank electric pump which is very reliable. The older mechanical lift pumps on the vp44 trucks were not reliable. Having said that, I run a hellmann fuel tank sump and an airdog 165 lift pump on my 6.7, but its makin 753 rwhp on N20. I don't like the newer airdogs as the frame brackets are plastic and the fuel lines are precut. A secondary filter even with the stock pump isn't a bad idea though.

Early 04 ( which was common rail) had an electric lift pump on the side of the filter housing, not in tank. If his is early, they were prone to failure. The later in tank versions were more reliable.
