Not that you are going to do it anyway, but as an FYI, when you split tubing the halves will bow. Ok for short pieces, but wouldn't be good over for a long one.
A friend has a trailer with a 5x10 deck that I use sometimes. Other than the tongue, it's all 1/8 wall (factory built trailer). I forget what the main perimeter tube size is (I think 2x3), but all the cross members are 2x2. It's had some good loads on it without a problem. I even had a small Kabuta tractor on it. Took an 1100 pound pizza oven to the scrap yard once too, it came off the magnet and dropped 4' to the trailer, and didn't hurt it. Deck is 2x6 planks.

As I was cutting the ubolts from the leafs, the bottom two springs crumbled into dust. I promptly hauled the old carcass away yesterday, got $27 dollars for it Gave the desk girl a $2 tip because she doesn't treat me like I am wearing a dunce cap when I go in there. McNutt's all the way!

Well after a couple months of negotiations I wound up with Scott's mostly done trailer. Me being me, I can't leave well enough alone. Sure I could have wired it, put some chains on it, a basic tail gate and called it good for safety but no. I began the spring over axle, paint, and of course bigger tires in stage one. This is my canvas... First coat of paint (halfway) before it rained.. Stage 2 will include things like, tailgate/ramp, truck bed toolbox (currently looking if you're getting rid of one) located up front, tie down points and full size high rise truck cap (currently looking if you're getting rid of one. Stage 3 Metal cloak's - not really, but sort of. I plan to pick up a set of the Jeep style fenders from PA and see if I can replicate them.

Finally got the SOA done!! I think I gained about 6 inches over the spring under (I forgot to measure). With the current fenders I don't have much room for anything but with the wider ones I should be able to fit a set of 235's or 30's very nicely. I can fit my 34's but the bottom of the fenders aren't wide enough I didnt bother cutting them as they are coming off anyway and I need to get this done and on the road. The trailer isn't level as it sits, which is what I wanted. The larger tires will make up for it in the end. I have a plan for a 6 foot fold up gate, has anyone attempted to build one that supports up to 500lbs? I'd like to know how you made out, I have an idea in mind but weight is a large factor.

Thanks man! I've been painting it a 3rd at a time with a can of armour coat and a brush - it's slow going. The patina was the perfect coarse'ness for the paint to grab.
Wheels... Kinda. I just need to use a 1" wheel spacer to get it over the hub.

Brandon do you have air? Last couple trailers I did with that water based Tremclad and my paint gun - didn't even bother thinning it. You're welcome to use my gun if you have air.

I do have both but even after reading a couple articles I still didn't understand the thinning process so I never bothered trying. Thanks for the offer though! I need to get more paint today, ill look for that trim clad sounds pretty easy!
