After the discussion in another thread about tandem towing, I asked a friend of mine who works with Access Nova Scotia about the legality, here is her reply to me: Just spoke with an officer here and they said you cannot do tandem towing in NS unless approved in advance by the Registrar. He did mention he believes it's a letter that is sent in, however, it is very rare that someone is approved. So there ya go!

Ya, figured. Thx for checking.
Maybe a gooseneck camper with a really light aluminum boat behind it or something, they will allow.
Would like to see the letter, prob asks for weight specifics, etc.

Then how does a dolly work? Wouldn't that be classed as double towing?
What if I fab a dolly that is permanently attached to the rear of my camper? Drive the front of the Jeep up onto said dolly!

I seen a double tow just about a month ago here I recently saw photos of a double tow on Facebook which sparked my interest in it again so I opted to do some actual digging. Interesting point about the dolly - though I'm with Creepy haha

I see double towing one or two times a month. I live 1 km from a campground on the ocean, and see all the time pickups towing 5 wheel camper with boat or sea doo on a trailer behind it like this

I wonder if they are plated in NS or from out of province?

I wonder if they are plated in NS or from out of province? In doing some of my reading I heard where out of province drivers still aren't legal unless they have proper "permission"; the driver is obligated to obey road rules and regulations and it is the driver's responsibility to figure out what those rules are ahead of time (though it took me quite a bit of digging to find that document linked above)

I agree with you Dewie, its like when we go to another province/state, we should know the rules and abide especially when towing/hauling. I know the truckers have to, should definitely be the same for regular guys as well.

I know that RV'ing in the states can be tricky with pulling a car. Some states require you put a braking system in the car that applies the car brakes when you apply your RV brakes. You must meet the regulations for the states you are traveling in. Same would apply here.
