Thought I'd throw one in here as I have done alot to the LJ since we bought in November little by little as the funds and time come. She was happy with it the way it came to us but me being a jeep addict I looked at it and said "Blah"!
As it came to us from New Brunswick.
05 with 102,000kms and 4litre 6 speed ,both tops yada, yada, yada.
First was the D shackle mount cause winter was coming and a badly needed undercoat....
Not a big fan of the painted flairs so up in the attic they went and got these Rubi ones fron Dave on the board here thanks Dave and put them on and hey they matched the hard top! ;D
Did'nt like the "milk jugs" on the front so buzzed them off.Linda walked in on me when I was cutting them off and was pissed for a minute or two but got over it.....
Like the windshield lights so that was next but had no luck with torx bolts and was scared to f#ck things up on the new jp so welded tabs on the hinges and painted and are fine. Can't lay the window down flat but would'nt anyways.....
Hate the side steps and all they do is trap sand/mud we live on dirt road.Another thing the wife wanted left alone but?
Off they came.Wanted something to cover the bottom of tub so got some "gatergrip" from work its 4" wide and sold by the foot and self stick so got 12ft and put that on....
Tub armour next thanks to Pecks.Went with TrailFX rails and very pleased with quality.Looks just as good as Smitty and RR stuff.Hoisted them up marked them off.Dropped drilled the frame and bolted back up.
This was taken in March when we put the soft top on and the everything done to this point....
Drove it a while and decided on tires and lift.Wanted only to go 2.5 " anyway and 31/32" tires as this is the wife's DD . She works close to home so not a big issue really.Have some stuff to do to house this summer roof being one so went with a 2" BB for this year.....
Its 2" up front and 1 1/4 rear kit.I also used some stock coil isolators stacking one extra in front for 2.5" and one in rear for a full 2".The rear sits higher anyway as you tj/lj guys know...
Bought 5 Cooper SST's in a 32"/11.5/15 from Shay tire in Valley.I wanted the Coopers something different then all the km2's around.Yeah there not as great a tire likely but I like them.Went with what else but black steelies.(everyone and there dog has them) but hey I like them as well. The LJ's black so sticking to the theme.... Thanks Pecks again for the ProComp wheels......
The lift went in today.I took some install pics but you have seen them all before.Very easy to put these BB in.I've done a lot of lifts for people and myself mostly in XJ's , long arms etc and its gets easier the more you do it.....
The finished results!
Wifes pretty much cut me off for awhile but very pleased with it so far.Future plans are a stubby front bumper with winch and rope.Rear bumper with recovery points so i can get ride of hitch....
