My Father-In-Law is down visiting from Alberta for the next few weeks and wants to take a run up to the Cape for a tour. Last year we did the whole tour of PEI just after New Years in about 5 hours, as they may as well just put a "Closed For Winter" sign on the NB side of the Bridge.
So where would be good to take him for this year's "Closed for Winter" tour in Cape Breton?

That would be fun, too bad we would have to take the car. Jeep would be too tight with 5 people and stuff !

Brandon, that's what PEI was like last year, especially on the north side of the island ! Weather doesn't matter to me ...my wife on the other hand ... Is there anything open along the Cabot Trail this time of year? Places to show my F.I.L. in the Sydney area? Any places along the way?

Its really not a good time to tour around and sight-see in a car. The roads are very 'nice-weather dependant' and it storms a lot. Cabot Trail has its own weather patterns and even has its own wind system that operates independent of other weather. And hardly anything is open.
All there is to do is drink. lol
Look at any of my picture posts in Cape Breton section....they are all nice driving tours with stuff to look at.

That makes me want to go in winter!
Eastcoastcam - there are barely any gas stations around the north part of the trail, make sure you always have lots of gas.
Cheticamp on one side, Ingonish on other, fill up if going north. And also, they do not plow at night if there is weather. get off the roads towards dark. Also tons of moose at dusk.
