I picked up a little '81 Mack DM. The ol girl needs a change of color. I got a friends shop for a weekend to get er done. I sanded the cab down with the feather edger and did a little body work. Got a painter buddy to spray it for me. She's friggin blue now! Had to take a walk outside and let the exhaust fan do its thing. We had a bit of a storm that day. I've been hauling snow pretty steady with my ol Louisville, but it's heading to the shop for a few little repairs. Next storm i get to try out the little Mack attack! It works pretty good for an antique! Parked at home waiting for the next snow storm! Had er all decorated for the hollidays! lol

as much as I hate Macks, she looks good. IF I had to run one, I'd be going for an older DM like that. They really are a curse to work on though. It's too bad they are so damn tough.

A little gear jamming vid. driver stick is 5speed, pass side is hi/low//reverse. Not sure, pto just works when the 2nd trans is in neutral, from the little air-shifted pull-lock knob? 5th/N/pto to dump at start of vid. Bit of forward/backwards, then out to road. Watch shifting for aux to reverse, then to low, then 1-2/low to 2/hi, then progress thru 2,3,4/hi. The shift to 5th/hi is made off camera, you can hear it tho. Might be some variation of that, I'm no expert. I drive autos. let me know if vid doesn't work.

So it's a true twin stick (main and aux trans), I thought maybe it was a 12 speed Mack. Dad had one of those, all one trans, high and super low shifter, then hi, low, and reverse air shifter on the main 6 speed stick (6 speeds in reverse!). It was originally a long nose V8 truck (not a Superliner though), and I think that trans didn't come behind the 237. We put a 300 in it. I've got to get some truck pics up on here.
My uncle drove a DM for so long (hauling paper from St. George to St John), his handle is still Sidewinder. I remember making the trip as a kid, Enos and I taking turns standing or sitting on the little bench seat with dad.

I know of the 12 speed, but i haven't got my hands on one yet. It's kinda neat grabbin gears when your backing up!
Cool vid Jan, the ol girl froze up right after you left eh! lots of fun!

When I saw you on Sunday, you were with the Autocar too. I saw that truck first, as I had to stop for him while he was backing into a parking lot, while you were parked on the road.
