Well guys even though I've been hanging around on the forum for over a year now, I'm still sort of a new guy. I haven't been on any runs here in the HRM (the runs in Cape Breton don't really count lol ) , but I've met a few of you and have never ever made a build thread. I don't really have much documentation on my jeeps but I'm going to post up what I've got and go from there. I apologize in advance for shitty pics and different sizes.. no clue what I'm doing.
I started out with a bone stock 2000 TJ that i bought from my brother after high school.. ever since then i was hooked.
This was my first car and the beauty i gave up for my jeep
Here's what i started with, wasn't in bad shape
Not long after that i added some cragars and 31's for some beef
Started saving for a lift,
ended up going with a 3.25" RC
Some mediocre post lift flex shots with sway bar
Naturally after a lift comes tires, so i picked up some 285/75/16 BFG AT's and mounted em on some Rubicon Moabs
After all that fun stuff, like any other jeeper out there, i had to deal with rust.. fenders were frigged.
Looked into some MCE flat fenders and they seemed like the best deal beacause of their easy installation
It wasn't until this point that i did any wheeling that wasn't me messing around on dirt roads and mud puddles.
Got in touch with Ronin here on the forum and got some runs in
After doing what most of you do as well I'm sure and drooling over parts on the internet
I began to price everything I'd need to build an 8.8 and mount it under my rig.....
Then this happened
Still miss the old rig, sometimes i wish i just had of kept it and kept going.. oh well.
First things first, off with those ugly bushwackers.... traded em for stockers plus $$
looks better with the stock flares
When i originally purchased the dealer told me the shocks were F'd.. and they were. but he threw in 4 skyjackers with the deal.
Quickly traded em for some bilstein 5100's and got those bad boys in.
My problem was the PO didn't maintain ANYTHING
Every ball joint was f'd, replaced almost every U-joint, Both wheel bearings as well and the brakes were toast
Either way i got a deal and she's all fixed up now.. I bought it for all the fancy expensive things ( D44's, lockers, Etc)
Tried to climb a rock like Ronin
Got a beefier tie-rod from a ZJ since this happened
After all the repairs, I got a cheap CT superwinch, mounted a hilift on the rear swingout.. no pics ( Thanks again Ronin ), some RC sway bar discos ( PO broke one and replaces with a link from a gm truck) and just recently picked up a set of soft doors ( Thanks again badwithcomputer )
After a summer of wheeling in Cape Breton I moved to Halifax for school and she's a mall crawler now Although, I caught the bug most of you already have and am wanting to get new joints&bushings for CA's/drop 2-3"/belly-up/skinny 33" tire ( dartjeeps TJ is where i'd like to be ) since mine are otw out and it'll primarily be a DD/weekend wheeler until i get my shit figured out. The 6" lift and 35's get old fast.
Seeing as I'm a broke ass college student with a newborn daughter.. I don't have much to spend on the rig. So from here on out it's going to be slow, but I'll pick at it. She's going into the garagemahal this weekend to get the exhaust manifold replaced.
