I might be out for the pre-run as well. 2 sick kids and now I'm coming down with their cold. It'll be a game time decision for me, as in tomorrow night. Feel like a bag of crap wrapped in fu<k right now

The pre-run was great. There is a ton of snow in the woods! Up to your knees when you get out. Great trails but I would suggest 33's as the minimim with that much snow. I was dragging my diffs all day.

Aaron Sounds like a challenge I'm game as long as you don't think I'll be getting dragged through the whole trail, or if there's too many rigs going, I don't want to hold everyone up

When the snow gets this deep if you want to wheel on 31s and 33s you NEED to drop tire pressure to 5 psi or you won't get the flotation.

With 33's (285/70/17's), I could never run 5 PSI. My pig weighs more than 5000 lbs without my chubby arse, trail gear & passengers in tow. The tire bead is also in contact with the sidewall at all times @ 6-7 PSI!
I know this because of my wife, unfortunately...not due to extensive testing.

Sorry, I am assuming a Jeep with off-road tires. What tire do you run? My rig with myself and my gear is 5K LBs and I ran 17" KM2s and would run 3 psi in snow.

BFG M/T KM's. Load range D. They can run to 3-5 PSI, but the weight & LWB (similar to a JKU) of the Xterra causes the bead to run on the sidewall @ 6-7 PSI. Not to mention the likelihood of rolling a bead w/o running bead locks at that level.
Only reason I know is the wife picked up a nail in a tire & I used a gauge to measure before I installed a plug. At that PSI, there was no flex/give to the sidewall. I added 2-3 PSI with a compressor and there was a little flex.
FWIW, I run 18 PSI in the warm months & 12-13 PSI in the winter.

I was running 8-10 psi and I was doing fine all day. No issues with the snow at all. Dragging the diffs a little but was easily manageable. Only one or two spots with some good off camber that you would need to worry about popping a bead, if you were going lower than 5 psi.
