I have been watching your build. I intend to one day ( not tomorrow... ) copy your tummy-tuck skid plate so I m st pay attention ! And what's with Len? He doesn't stop in to visit anymore since his old Jeep moved out of your yard?

Thanks , 25 hours into that skid ! I cringed at the angle grinding of the plate shapes. The inch or 2 inch difference in height getting it perfectly flat aren't as much of an advantage as getting it smooth. The new one will be 100X better for getting over stuff.

looks great, but I have 2 questions...
firstly, is there any particular reason for setting the skid plate on fire?
secondly, what is to prevent the front of the skid plate from bending up into the transmission pan when (not if) you slide or drop on a rock?

I was cleaning the cutting oil off with brake clean , and then set it on fire , no real reason There is nothing stopping that , but I have not forgotten about it . Plan is to build a bridge above the driveshaft to the frame

I was wondering why you set it on fire but was waiting for someone else to ask.
