I'm not sure if this has been brought up in the past or not. What are the chances of mapping a trail and keeping track of trail names. I've been part of the Jeep club from almost the start and over the course of the years I have noticed that the trail names keep changing, and parts of the trails are being forgot about or not run. If the club trail masters or club president could keep track of the trails and names these could be passed along when new people take over positions within the club keeping the names and locations the same. It is just a thought  |

I have decided to start mapping trails I do with my phone GPS app so that I can build up a library of tracks for my own personal keeping. Usually I am using the phone for pictures/video (it takes better pics/video than our camera  ), but I have decided to step back from that and dedicate it to tracking for a while. I often lead the runs for Back Country, so often I don't get a lot of chances to take many pictures lately anyway. |

From what I am aware of since being in the club for a few years now and being part of the exec's all trails are handed down from trail master to trail master. Many of the trails that have be altered or no longer run anymore is usually being of either development or other land use (private property, pipe line, no longer have access etc...) The trail master 1 and trail master 2 terms (2 years) are put into play for that reason so that trails can be past on. Each Trail master is voted in on opposite years therefore when one trail master steps down the other still has a year term left to "train" ( I use that word lightly) a new trail master pass down the trails. Some of the older trails have been renamed do the entry point of the trail, new parts added to the trail etc..
Regarding the trails being mapped out "I believe" that the reason the trail masters (being close friend to some and married to one) don't do so is because if the trails start being mapped out and "handed" to people will run them on a constant basis: the trails when either get over run (worn down or destroyed) or access to those trail with be cut off my land owner. This has happened many times in the past. Just last year alone we lost 2 trails to development and then one trail was run 3 weeks in a row. These trails are provided by paid members and/or individual who plan to become members. But I don't believe the purposes is for the general public to know where all these are so they can get over run by other off-roading vehicles that are not aware of them/ being disrespectful and negligent. Therefore in the end comes back to losing trails.
