Ladies and gentlemens! Boyz and girlz! We have a new date for the ANNUAL BEAR RIVER NIGHT RUN! Due to the unfortunate mixup with the Labor Day weekend dates, we had to postpone the run. Alan and I put our heads together the other night and came up with SATURDAY SEPT. 20th.
We'll start the evening off with a BBQ for all participants at the farm in Bear River (if you'd be kind enough to post if you can make it, or contact Alan, so we can gauge what to get for supplies). Then at dusk we set out behind the farm to the trail. Depending on how many Jeeps we have, and how wet it's been, this trail can take between 2 and 3 hours to complete (although we have seen it take about 4 one night...).
This is a stock friendly trail, but also entertaining for the bigger Jeeps with some off-camber sections, the hill nicknamed "Immodium" for the more capable machines, and some pretty tight twists and turns as we wind our way to the bottom. The past couple of times we have turned around and climbed back up...decent tires can be helpful here if the hill is a little soggy. All in all, it's a very entertaining and fun trail for everyone.
I'm thinking we should have the BBQ about 6 o'clock...that should take us to just about sunset (now that it's getting dark earlier... ). I guess the weather, how many folks we have and how long we're on the trail will determine whether we have a campfire afterwards...bring some marshmallows just in case!

For those who haven't been to the farm, take Exit 24 and follow along the river to Bear River. You'll come to a stop at the village of Bear River (you'll see a store right across the road from the stop). Turn RIGHT and head up the hill about 1/2 a km and turn LEFT onto SISSIBOO RD. Head up the hill 'til you're almost to the top and on the LEFT you'll see a farmhouse with a very large barn behind it, along with Alan's shop and a yard full of Jeeps and other assorted machinery...you can't miss it!
All Jeeps are welcome to join us! Hope you can make it!
