A simple OP Amp circuit will do it Jan, can make you one in 10 minutes. It will output proportionally to the input so the the AW4 only see's 5V when the TPS output 8V. very cool! i'll read up more at work, this topic has a load of bull to wade thru......the zj guys who can't drop a trans have the searches all cluttered up with lame-o tech.

You should have just waited for me to get back to you! 93 ZJ has 5v TPS, so all you have to do is tap into the output wire with the one for the TCU TPS input. No confusing regulators needed. ;D
It's the orange/dark blue wire on the TPS plug.

just had a thought: my 93 ZJ has aw4, and i guess 5V TPS.
would BA's 93 ZJ 42RE maybe have an 8V TPS? the switch would coincide with the trans switch?
maybe not, i need to measure it to be sure i guess.

I doubt it, they probably used the same computer as the XJ's. Some of the sensors are 8v. I looked through a few years, and I don't see that they ever went to 8v for the TPS on 4.0's. If you want to check to be sure, it's the violet/white wire.
I looked at 97 ZJ for Justin, and they went back to just 5v for everything!
Goatse and I looked through the yard that day I saw you in Burnside. There are several XJ's with AW4's in them. One trans on the ground, but I took the TC out of that one.
They did change some of the wire colors over the years, so let me know what you get and I'll get you the info.

Would amperage be an issue with this? Useing the out put of 8v and droping it down to 5v may over amp this with both voltage through it. Just a question from a lill to noknowldge guy. DA DOg Ps, x 1,000 on those bad trany's

I actually just did the inverse! I ordered a remanufactured 42RE from these guys reman-transmission.com/transmission-codes/?code=42RE (great support too). Once my transmission arrived to the shop it was a easy swap and was on my way out of the shop with my 2004 Cherokee and haven't looked back
