i ripped all that shit out. There will still be the ECM tho. You can come look at mine sometime if you want. I have an 85 CJ7 4.2, and a 79 CJ5 360. Both run how the wiring is now, so you can see where stuff goes. Dartmouth.
I'll do that, thanks!

I had a friend of mine come over, some people on here may know him, Mike Romain, I went in the house for a minute and when I came back there was a ball of wiring laying on the floor, I didn't think it would run again, lol but it did. Simplify it and less headaches. Now you got me wanting another one, there's a frame in Cape Breton, this would be # 5 . Looks like you need a rear hatch?

I did, Brad- I found one and replaced the duct taped one (and I just gave away the hard top actually). Picked up a nice soft top last weekend. Black with black tinted windows. Got that and a bikini top I bought last yr that doesn't fit the TJ. Hey, there's a nice looking 86 CJ7 in Bat-turst.. (just sayin

I Just reached that corner under the hood with all the computer crap. AND found eight more loose wires connected to nothing HEI on Amazon for about 350 bucks...

HA ha ha, looks like the same guy that did yours did mine. Looks like one of those multi outlets for in your wall outlet. I put super heavy cables to everything winch etc.. I only had one ground the strap on the motor mount. This stuff I found hard to do, not very electrical minded. Yes that white one is tempting.

Well, it's been a while but... New battery cables, new Alternator installed (and wired) new mechanical fuel pump. I got rid of the noisy electric one. New fuel lines front to back. And she runs on her own (AND charging for the first time since I got her) Next- I tackle under the dash and clean that up. New gauges to go in

Well.... CJ - 10 Pat - 0 I did manage to get a couple things done since the last post: Got the YJ soft top installed. Complete used set still had a couple pieces missing (of course) and two left rails instead of one of each. I now have 3 frame assembles, each with missing pieces Relocated the horn. (this actually went well) Relocated the Rad overflow tank and made room for a windshield washer tank (which interestingly wasn't there when I bought it. Someone removed that and the hoses / nozzles) I bought a used TJ one but no luck fitting it in so, still looking for a CJ one Tackled the wiper linkage next. I bought a reproduction kit from Amazon (Omix?) which is absolute crap. Made in () Garbage! The old girl deserves better than that. I'm looking for some actual factory stuff now to get rid of the junky stuff. And then the dash.... Pulled 2 thread/nuts out of the fibreglass windshield folding it down (I got those replaced with 5/16 nutserts) Old junky gauges are gone now, making room for the new ones (oil, temp, volt, vacuum) Pulled the steering wheel to replace the key lock cyl and signal clicky handle. The lock cyl I bought in Dec doesn't fit (for sale if anyone needs it) I need the one that has a screw holding it in.
(Left one is the orig one- notice the Notch where the screw fits to hold it in) Right one is the NFG to me one. Trade for other CJ stuff? (Anyone?)

It came with it's own dirt too!
(Any chance to bend tubing....)
Yes, that one was hanging out... and yes, the heater duct is missing
Cig lighter wire... Well, no problem tapping into power

Sure looks like you could just dremel a slot in the side of that tumbler housing. If not... what about swapping the guts over to the old housing?
Bill
I thought of that, Bill. The new switch won't shove all the way in- about 1/2 inch short of fitting. I thought of swapping the guts too, but I don't see a physical way of taking it apart. New switch was only 30 bucks. Probably cheaper this way than a locksmith too.

I thought of that, Brad. Brand-new switch #3 arrived from 4WD Parts, I installed it and no work. It wouldn't switch all the way to the "start" position. I tried switch #2 (again and it clicked in (and WORKS!) As my Grandfather used to say, "Oh my my my my my my my my my...)
I'm nearing the end of the big mess-o-wiring. On to better (more fun) things soon...
