So tonight I picked up my 2005 TJ Rubicon. It has 160,000 on it, and is a 6 speed. The lady I bought it from owned it for 6 years, and kept all receipts for the work done on it, and kept it undercoated. It's in good shape, but has the typical TJ rusty fenders and windshield frame. So, the build plans.... Nothing major on this one. 2" lift, and maybe a 1" body lift, and later down the road, a tummy tuck. Also no bigger than 33" tires. Tires also won't come until new ones are needed. Right now it has 31" Toyo AT's that are still in very good shape. I don't have much for pics now, but will try to grab more tomorrow.

The body lift with MM lift and the tummy tuck make a huge difference with the TJs. Looks like a nice rig, congrats!

Thanks Aaron! Looking at pics of modestly lifted TJ's with a TT, they have tons of clearance under them. That's one reason I want to just do a small lift. The kids are having a hard enough time getting in and out of it now stock, so I don't want to kill them, lol.

So I need to make a dead pedal for it. It feels weird, and kind of uncomfortable not having one. Should be super easy to fab something up though. I also need to do a major overhaul of what gear I take with me on runs, as I now only have a 1/16 of the space as I did with the WJ. Most stuff I carried was a just in case type thing, so now it'll be only what's really needed.
I'm also going to order a steering box skid plate, and I need to pick up a new CB antenna, and a mount for it. I'll check the Big Stop Thursday when I get gas to see what they have.
Oh, and the stock headlights SUCK!! LOL

But as thy grow, the room gets less and less...

Just a few things about a TJ. Don't try to mount a 60" High-Lift inside it is a waste of time. Tow straps fit nice under your seat. Small tool box or socket set are best and can tuck nicely behind the roll bar. Headlights do suck, spend the money on good aftermarket H4 lights and bulbs. Also you can run a wiring harness from your battery to your light through relays. Easy to make or there are kits out there that are plug and play. Lots of info in these boards to help ya out. Also when the time comes to replace your steering box "crazyfrog" on here does an amazing job on rebuilding them. He did mine 4 years ago and hasn't leaked yet. Enjoy the new ride.

Tonight I picked up a Firestick, cable and mount, and got the antenna installed. I haven't pulled my CB from the other Jeep yet, so I still have that to install. Not sure where I'm going to mount it, but I might go with the Rugged Ridge dash mount. I also did the locker mod, but just did the one where you can engage in any transfer case setting, but has to be below 10 mph. I can't see that being a problem, but if it is, I'll just tap the other wire into it.

Tonight I installed the front 2" coil spacers. I'll do the rear tomorrow, and try and get better pics.

Picked up a couple of cheap Canadian Tire bike mirrors today. Getting prepared for doorless weather!

I ordered a Rugged Ridge steering box skid plate, and it arrived today. Going to try and make time to get it installed tonight. Also got my light bar mounted last night.

So I got the steering box skid mounted. Got a little mud on it. Picked up a set of 31/10.5-15 Duratracs on rims for it. When backing into a spot at CT today, I noticed the tires were rubbing a bit. I added a washer to the steering stops when I got home, and that solved the problem.

Haven't had much to post, as I haven't really done anything to it. I did go to Kenny's U-Pull, and grabber an intake out of an old Ford Windstar, and I'm going to make a cowl intake for it. I also changed the rear shocks, and put stock JK shocks on it. 3 of the 4 top mounting bolts broke, so I cut access holes in the floor, and cut them off with my Dremel. I found it easier working from above, which is why I did it that way. The shocks are longer, which works great with the 2" BB in it. I also added some rock lights to it, made from left over LED lights on a roll, from when I did under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. Rock lights by Derek MacMillan, on Flickr Rock lights by Derek MacMillan, on Flickr Looking out the drivers door. Rock lights by Derek MacMillan, on Flickr I've also been wanting to get the front end up about another 1" to get rid of the rake. From what I've been reading, a pair of coils and coil isolators out of a V8 ZJ should do the trick. I think I remember seeing some ZJ's at the u-pull, but not sure if they're V8s or not.

I went to Kenny's U-Pull today, and grabbed a pair of front coil springs and isolators from a V8 Limited ZJ. I installed the ZJ springs tonight, and they lifted it another 0.5" (higher than the stock coils and 2" BB). Not as much as I wanted, but better than nothing. I was going to install the JK shocks in the front, but didn't feel like fighting with swapping the bar pins over. I might just buy a set of bar pin eliminators for it.
