I am trying to figure out my rating. I was looking at the rating on this site. I think, I could be an 8 or perhaps a 9. Some of you saw me this weekend, (the yellow 91 YJ, with the snow plow gear).
I also did the the New year's Burnt Lake trail there was a lot of broken ice approximately 6" thick.
Also what is the meaning of = shelves xx"
Let me know what you think, please do not hurt my ego Hahaha

that is a trail rating system, not for you and your jeep.
burnt lake is a 2 or so.

Keep in mind that it has alot to do with current conditions as well. Try burnt lake when the snow is packed by the ATV's and tell me it's a 2. ;D

Good point Rob. Another good example was Victoria Secret at the fall crawl, normally rated a 5-6, with all the rain it was more like a 6-8. Another example is Bear River, rated 4-5, but if you take all the optional sections its more like a 7, and Imodium at last year's Jam was a bobsled run which could have easily turned into a 8+.

Len doesn't seem to have bad moods, more like different variations of mellow.

Ok now I understand that it the trail that is rated. From what I see, I over rated myself. Hence, I do not think that me and my Jeep will be able to do an 8 or 9 rated trail. So what do you think that me and my Jeep would be able to do and in the same time find it challenging? Mickey

So what do you think that me and my Jeep would be able to do and in the same time find it challenging? Mickey The way the rating works is that it is based on the likely hood of damgae to a stock Jeep. 1 being pavement where there is zero risk and 10 being the sort of trail that a stocker will not be worth trying to rescue from. At 6 damage is quite possible, 7 very likely and by 8 it is certain. For this rating pinstriping of paint is not considered damage. John
