Guess it is time to post the jeep up. The vultures are starting to circle. Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly:
1987 XJ, 2 door, 4.0l, 5 speed, 231, D30 front, D44 rear, 3.07 gears, 215/75/15 tires on stock steel white spoke rims, 18X,XXX kms
Engine runs great, uses a little oil, exh manifold cracked, new belt and idler bearing, muffler and tailpipe just went south, rest of exhaust is great. Radiator is good. Trans is peugot I think?, but shifts and works fine. Input shaft seal leaks on T/C, new rear seal in it. Shifts and works great. Front and rear shafts are good. Pinion bearings gone in front axle, rear axle gears howl (I didn't get them set up right, but have been running it that way for almost two years). I do have a set of 3.73 with an open carrier for the front axle. Might be able to find a set of 3.73's for the rear, but no promises on that one.
Interior is in great shape, rockers are toast, floor needs repatching, fenders and most of the body are in good shape. Rear hatch struts and Windshield are good. New in Jan 06 were front rotors, pads and rear shoes, front axle u-joints, rebuilt alternator, rear axle u bolts. Brakes work great, including parking brake. Ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings are all good. Steering box has a little play in it. All the lights and wiring are good. There are a set of 1 1/2 or 2 inch lift coils in the front, and an extra ply in the rear. The jeep sits level, no nose down look.
Technically still inspected until end of Dec 07, and I was using it as a daily driver, but don't need it anymore. It has never left me stranded anywhere, it works good. It is a 2 door, so easy to tub the rear wheel wells, would make a good starter project.
Prefer to sell it complete, but would consider parting it out, IF I have enough parts spoken for. No internet at home, so call me at 499-9334, located in Lake Echo. Going away at the end of Oct, so two weeks, then on hold until middle of Dec.
Make me an offer(s).
