Well it finnaly happened. After a long search for a new XJ I found on. A 94 XJ Country. It has the skid plate group, auto starter, alarm and a few of the other lazy man electronics my 92 has. All that is left to do is move the new parts off the 92 to the 94. Does anyone know if the Country's had a suspension lift? The 94 isn't a high as my 92 with the 3" lift but it is close. Now I have a question. I have asked this before but it was with a much older XJ. Will there be much of a problem transfering my np242 from the 92 to the 94 wich has the np231 (ie: that little vacum thing on the axel)

Congratlulations.
The Countrys didn't have a suspension lift, they actually have softer riding springs than most other XJs. It was the Up-Country package that gave the 1" lift over stock.
They still had the vacuum disconnect in 92? The more technically minded will have to answer that one for you, I'm not sure what year they changed the spline count on the input shaft.

Straight swap, no problem at all. Both Jeeps don't have the vacuum disco. For the shifter, all you have to do is swap bezels.

That would explain why mine looks so high up. You are right Enos the 92 doesn't have the diconect. My question before was when I was looking into a 89 and wanted to do the swap but that one did have the disconect. Straight swap, no problem at all. Both Jeeps don't have the vacuum disco. For the shifter, all you have to do is swap bezels. That is a relief. I was hoping that the swap would be simple. The XJ is in pretty good shape overall. There are a few things I don't like what the previous guy did but I can change them. There is a big problem in the steering though. I guess that he had a problem in the tilt steering and tried to fix it himself. Well now there are no signals and the steering is horrible. Clunking and tonnes of play. Well a trip out to APJ's next week and it will be all good from there. Now I'll just take a drive out to the grave site of my old 88 XJ and see if it's still there to get tow hooks and anything else that would be left to scrounge. Though the guys who stole it all those years ago didn't leave much behind.
