the lil TJ vibes like CRAZY these days. we pulled the front shaft and put on a new skid. it's only got 2" lift, so we figured it should be ok. Didn't really help. is it all the Swampers or what?? APJ checked 'er out for Ken and Craig spots the rear d-shaft is banged up, D44 yoke is banged up. I had a spare yoke, so we put that on. And we had a spare rear d-shaft from G. Crooks, turns out its a 4cyl, or something, anyway, it's 1/2 too long. (thx George! we needed it after all, glad i grabbed it!) which brings us to have been drinking beer, and the ol' "lets cut this thing up". Ken was gone to take the lovely and talented Ali for dinner (+5 points) and left me and Neil alone with his Jeep. ;D in the chopsaw cutting out the weld. seperated. i cut the shit out of it. i didn't realize the tube was sooo thin. (filled 'er up with weld ) made sure the bandsaw is square, and make the shortening cut. about a 1/2" removed. clean it up and tap the yoke back in, it's a slight press fit. Sat it on my new little mill to make sure it is square and indexed properly. you could use a piece of glass, too. weld around the seam. little out of practice. i can do better. non-dynamic computer balancing ;D ;D ;D we drove it and did an asphalt burnout and went about 60km/h. we'll take it out on the highway this afternoon, but so far the vibes are all but gone and it seems great. Chop saws are wonderful things! It'll probably be pretty much vibe free. The magazine .005" max runout is BS in the real world of Jeeps. Nice balancing job. ;D
