Clutch went out of my fan and destroyed the rad. Anyone got a open system rad that would fit a 94 XJ and a clutch fan. Rad doesn't have to be great, just something to get her going again (missing fins won't kill me in the winter). With Christmas coming I'm looking for cheap.

I didn't have a rad for you, but I'm pretty sure I have the clutch fan.

Anyone? Joan just reminded me the kids have their Christmas concerts this week and with our work schedules one of us will be away with the car.

That sucks Enos, I've had the exact same thing happen. Hopefully you didn't have a new clutch laying on the floor when yours went I've defineately got a clutch somewhere as well. Also have a wide assortment of closed rads. If you get in a bind let me know and you could borrow the open one outta my '91, wouldn't need it back till spring. Tony

I just remembered Blake put a new rad in his XJ, and his old one would have been fine for winter. You would have had to make a trip down here on crappy roads to get it though.

Nice shinny new rad is in and clutch fan. Was going to change the thermostat also, but couldn't get the bolts free and didn't want to snap them off, guess that will be a job for the next time I'm at Alans.
The nice bonus is that the nasty driveline vibe I've been trying to diagnose for the past 5 months is suddenly gone, never would have guessed that a worn fan clutch could have caused such a shake.

I had the exact same thing happen to me this summer. Caught it right before it did too much damage to the rad. I also had a engine vibe and was gone once I replaced the bad clutch fan.

I've been spending a lot of time under the XJ trying to find that vibe, even changed driveshafts. I found out the hard way what was really causing the problem.
