Hey all,
Went to the Jam meeting tonight and since a lot of people have been asking I thought I would give a little update and maybe answer a couple of the questions.
Plans are progressing and we are proceeding with the same view on it as last year. We need a minimum # of participants in order for the club to break even and be able to hold the event. May 23rd is the cutoff date for registration as posted in another thread, and this allows us time to cancel the campground/food etc if in fact lack of participation forces us to cancel the event. Yes, in the unfortunate case we do have to cancel full refunds will be given. But let's not let that happen as everyone knows what a GREAT time this is, as well as a terrific bang for your vacation buck. I will be posting a thread with information on a little incentive we will be offering for people who register early. Again, the sooner we get the monkey off of our back with respect to having the minimum # of participants registered, the better it will be from a planning perspective for everyone.
Trail guides, and which trails they will be guiding will be finalized next week and they will be contacted. It will be their responsibility to clear their respective trails while doing their pre-runs before Jam. They will also be responsible for getting a poster board together showing pics and explanations of the trail they are guiding that will be displayed during trail registration. As far as posting the trail names and descriptions of which trails will be offered, although there have been a couple posted already, the committee has decided that will not continue. The ratings of the trails will be posted, but like any other Jam there will be mild to wild. I know last year everything was posted, but because some of these trails are on private land we have been asked to keep the public descriptions to a minimum. I think this will make trail registration much more important at the event and the trail guides will be there to answer questions from participants.
If you want a sneak peak then please feel free to come and help trail clear as everyone knows that many hands make light work... ;D. Trail guides will post when the trail clearing will be happening.
The last couple things I want to bring up are sponsors and Jam advertising posters. There are a lot of new and old members who are connected to companies that would be able to sponsor or donate items, money, gift certificates that would be used as participant prizes. If you can help then please let myself or a member of the Jam committee know. If you need a sponsorship letter to approach a business then also let us know. Again, many hands make light work and everyone's help will make this event a success again this year.
I also have Jam posters as well so could people let me know how many they need so that we can get these displayed and get word out.
Thanks, and all indications I have received are that people want to help....well here is your chance to put your money where your mouth is... ;D
