Maybe this belongs in TECH but I thought I would post it here.
I am looking to put together a kit to keep in the Jeep....lots of tools at home but which should I take with me? Some are obvious such as my Torx bits and rachets....but what else do you guys and gals carry?

Vice grips and a big hammer!!
I usually carry a full socket set, screwdrivers, open/box end wrenches, pliers, wire, tiewraps, axe, loppers, 12v compressor, tow strap (or 2), tree saver, gloves, floor jack, hi-lift jack and now a rechargeable impact wrench.
Also, any spare parts you might have - extra u-joints are good, I also carry my old tierod and rear driveshaft.
Usually you figure out what you need only after you need it.

Have you ever tried to put that much stuff in a TJ? I keep vice grips, a BFH, BF zip ties, ratchet straps, two tow straps, D shackle. If anything happens that requires more, then I need help anyway. Just make sure you always wheel with the Prez, because he has enough stuff to assemble a second Jeep in his rig.

Thats why I traded my TJ for a proper grocery getter. Theres usually a cooler and a change of clothes for everyone in there too, and 4 passengers.

Specifically a spark plug socket. You drown it you have to dry it out. If you have cap and wires a small can of WD40. Brake fluid is good to have along with those vise grips. 1 quart of oil, if everyone does that and someone gets water in their engine, there will be enough to do an oil change.

My first time out with some people and the one thing I found out was the most important thing to take was drinking water. I took lots and some people didn't take enough or it was frozen and they couldn't drink it. Ain't nothing like a drink of water out in the woods. Roy

A spare serpentine (Sp?) belt is a good thing to have. Also some rags. Good for wiping the mud off your hands. Oh, and TP for when nature calls.
