Twice now my battery gage has dropped to Zero and the "Check Gages" light comes on. About 5 seconds later it goes out and the needle goes back to where it should. Anyone seen this before or know if it could be a sign of somthing else?

Grounding Issue?
EDIT:
Let me back up that wisdom with some experience,
Same thing would happen in the ranger except I have a drop in voltage to Zero or near zero and the battery light would come on. Turned out to be a 2 part issue. I had various poor grounds which would show up while travelling rough roads. After getting the grounds sorted out I discovered that the voltage regulator in the alternator was shot.....
Might not be your issue but sounds similar to what I had.

Oddly I had the same thing in a ranger except it became permanent, the ground cable from the battery corroded off the engine. Try cleaning the battery connections.
