I bought this direct from Advanced Adapters, in the hopes that their note on the website about being usable on XJ's with minor alterations would be true. The existing linkage bracket on the tranny is very different then on a TJ, so this will not work for me. I paid way too much for it by the time shipping and border fees were done, and didn't even get to use it. Anyways, it relocates the tcase linkage off of the body, and to the tcase/tranny. This allows for body lift or tcase drops without screwing up your linkage. Great item, if you have a TJ. Looking for $75. Its brand new.

Not sure why it wouldn't work... "Note: The new bracket could be used with Jeep Cherokees models. However, bracket, shifter linkage modifications could be needed. Additional Jeep TJ shifter parts may also be needed!!!!!!"
Since you're already into it, and looks like you'll take a loss.. why not just get the needed TJ parts to make it work?

I had a look at my buddy daves cherokee, which has the AX15 (std) transmission, and his existing bracket is much shorter. That is the difference. My AW4 has a much longer bracket (transmission stock bracket), which moves the z-linkage back farther, and this linkage adapter doesn't work with it. I had the transfercase crossmember off, front DS out, and the linkage all apart before I figured it out. This bracket is about 8" away from my pivot point, and at the wrong angle. I should be able to fab up something for myself however. This would work for a TJ, or very possibly, a std cherokee with a 231 xfercase. I wish it would work, but it isnt even close for my setup.
