My 84 pickup has a starting issue. There is no power on the am1 wire into the ignition switch (black/red). If I jump power onto the st1 terminal, she starts no issue, so that removes most of the circuit from the problem. The only thing I can see between am1 and the battery are 2 fuses. am1 40a, and one other (can't remember right now). I metered out every single fuse under the hood and by the drivers door, and all show good. Is there a hidden fuse somewhere?
Any yota techies out there that can help me?

Dammit, had my reply all done, then it got moved and I lost it, LOL.
Anyway, take 2, all my previous starting issues have been ground related, so I would start looking there, but from what you describe, i don't think that's it. I know some Toys have a problem with a relay in the starting system going bad, but I think that may the later trucks (89+).
I would search the problem on yotatech.com. They seem to be the repository of all fix-it knowledge for Toys on the web. Just don't ask about wheeling, they'll get to scared of scratching paint to reply.

Well, I'm sure it isn't a ground problem, as I am missing 12v on the ignition switch feed line (am1). Thanks for the suggestions, I'll meter out the relay, and check out yotatech

sometimes metering out fuses doesn't tell you anything. a fuse can be burned out, but still have a small amount of contact, which won't allow power to go through, but when you check it with an ohmeter, will show continuity.

Sounds like it could the actual ing switch is bad. Does anything come on with the key in the "ON" position? SO there is no power at all on the coil?
i went through similar problems with mine and it turned out i didnt have a good enough ground at the coil......good enough for my meter but when i was poking around with my test light it wasnt enough to give a bright light.

toyotas have a problem with the contacts in the strter solenoid sometimes, but get out a wiring diagram, you might have a broken wire, find out where it starts and where it ends, check it for continuity
i dont know anything about yotas, but i would look at the ignition switch and cylinder, possible problems in there?

Ignition switch doesn't exist. It has been removed awhile ago for favor of a push-button start and toggle switches, which worked up until this point. Wiring rings out from the switch to the solenoid, and placing 12v on that wire causes the engine to crank. I was missing the 12v feed line for sure.
Anyways, a new 12V wire was run with an inline fuse. The heck with tearing your hair out over a woods truck. Works great now.

Lol push button start, that would be cool if there was a hidden keyed power switch.

We were thinking about that, and a hidden 'kill' switch will be added in a secret location. I love the push button, it is a yellow "Trunk" button in the center of the dash. Trunk on a truck lol
