Here is my two cents.
Everyone are very happy to have door prices and all kind of goodies in their bag from the Jam. All those are possible because many big and small sponsor donations. Yes in return they expect to have some of our business.

Here is an example, at the Jam someone out of province were given a gift certificate from B&B auto repair in Coldbrook, (for a free oil change and free MVI). Thank you Kim. It was no good to them been out of province, so they gave me the gift certificate which of course I used the free services. But in return to support that sponsor, I drove from Greenwood to Coldbrook to have my winter tires installed. I went out of my way to support the sponsors.

Also what I find strange is someone received a gift certificate for a $75.00 Massage Service from my daughter which has not been used to date.

sometimes people forget about gift certificates - I gave one away at a GAC a few years ago for a complete set of bearings for any diff.; guy with a suzuki won it and I never heard anything

My Thoughts......

In a perfect world YES, it would be great if people would support their sponsors, reality is, it doesn't always happen. Not every sponsor appeals to everyones tastes and interests.

When SPAS donated the their prize at last years Jam we expected absolutely NOTHING in return. Yeah it would have been great if people would have been flocking to the shop to buy hot tubs and pools saying " I seen your banner at Jeep Jam" but it simply wasn't going to happen and we knew it from the beginning.

I think it would be a pretty safe assumption if I said that other than the winner of the gazebo (Who was from PEI) nobody else from Jamboree even visited SPAS to shop or enquire about a product or service that we have. That's just the way it goes!

We did not donate the prize to gain business or support from the participants, we have advertising to do that for us. We donated the prize because we were in a position where we were able to give something back to Jamboree because Jamboree gave so much to us and to help make everyones experience that much better and hopefully draw in new participants for next years event.

We are already looking forward to Jamboree 2010 and I can assure you SPAS will be there again with another donation and will continue to do so again and again as long as we are involved with the NSJC and the NSJC Jamboree.

IMO...

If the company isn't Jeep related I would hardly expect to see them gain much bussiness...BUT, if I were to need their services and live in that area they would prolly be the first one I visit. Although when it comes to visiting a hair salon, people tend to stay with the same one that they are used to, so would only gain clientele if someone was new to the area.

There are so many more services that the people in the Jeep Club use other than Jeep related stuff, so I wouldn't say that people won't visit these businesses if it is not Jeep related. Paula goes to Vibe all the time...does she walk in and ask for a Jeep Club discount...doubt it. When I am in the market for a hot tub I will definitely go to SPAS and give them first crack at my business which holds true for any of the sponsors. Will they always get my business...depends...and not just on price.
Everyone looks at these things differently.
