Has anybody tried Canadian Tire's off-road M+S tire? I seem to recall it going on sale for a very good price last year at ~ boxing day time.
Any Comments on this? It looks like a decent tread to me.
Also, P or LT rating for daily driven XJ or ZJ?

I'd suggest a P designation - LT designations are typically for trucks like the F-250's and F-350's of the world - rigs that'll see heavy work and big loads. You wouldn't need that high a rating and you'd pay a penalty in ride comfort.
As for the tire - I've never run one, but bear in mind they could be noisy - which is relative I guess.
I have, however, run their regular winter tires on my cars and 2wd trucks in the past and highly recommend them.

You won't have a problem with an LT tire... especially in a coil sprung grand. I've run the M+S tires before... I think it was on my CJ. Worked well at the time. Was happy with them

I had a set of 30's (like in the previous link) on my old YJ and was very happy with them, worked well in the mud and snow.

I've had a used (taken off an XJ) set on my Dakota for the last couple months. They worked really good in the snow, but they are quite noisey (that might be from the way they wore on the XJ though).

I ran a set for two years on my XJ, loved them in all road and off-road conditions. Great snow tire.

Yeah, those are the ones I meant. I'm pretty sure CDN Tire has all of their tires on super sale after boxing day.
What other cheap tires would people recommend>?

Canadain Tire also has a good warranty system. Free tire repairs and a prorating system (you only pay for what is worn off) for replacing damaged tires or for an extra $5.00 a tire you can get free tire replacement certificates. If the tire is ever damaged and can not be repaired (more than one hole or side wall damage) it is replaced free of charge. Canadian Tire also sells BFG M/T & A/T and also Good Year MTR.

My co worker uses the 235x75x15 Motormaster M+S on his '90 wagoneer. He loves the tire. They show no signs of wear after 10,000kms. Lots of sipes and are A-1 in snow.

Cool.
Looks like CT do indeed have them on sale for Boxing week. 235/75/15's for $90 a pop. I think I'll treat myself.
Now, for the important stuff .... white letters facing in or facing out?
