I'm looking at used XJs and ZJs at the moment. One issue is that I've sworn to never buy a rig without cup-holders. Anybody done a good 'XJ cupholder upgrade'? And by cupholders, I mean MUG-holders, I like my coffee.
Otherwise, I'll be stuck looking at Grands only!
Also, the other reason for me to pick Grand over ch'kee is 60/40 split seats, has anybody heard of swapping seats from another vehicle to get 60/40 split, or were they available in some XJ's? I know this is an issue for the YJ/TJ crowd.

Good question. Anyone with this info I also know someone that would appreciate some ideas for cup holders.

I know Jeep used to sell cupholders for the XJ (that's what I have), they mounted on the passenger's side of the console and held 2 cups - the large Timmy's travel mugs fit nicely. I have heard that they are no longer available and they were overpriced at $30+ (unless you happened in when the pricing was wrong in the computer and could get them for $7 ;D ) Gemini sales also sells ones that go on the console over the parking brake. Look here, 4th item down: www.gemini-sales.com/cgi-bin/shopcart.cgi?Category+Interior%20Accessories

Not that I've ever been through it but go to APJs. There is a rust mark on the fence from me drooling over it each time I'm in the Halifax area. I'm keeping the rear tail lamps, alloys and cup holder from my '88.

For my old 92 XJ, I bought the cherokee cup holders from Gemini sales, and was very pleased with their product and quick delivery! I would check them out!

Hey, that looks pretty good, and not a bad price. To be honest, I was expecting to see some wise-crack suggestions,.. or at the very least, something cheap like a chunk of PVC pipe tacked onto the door with a wood screw or something. I'm both impressed and disappointed .

I tried the one from Gemini, and it does hold cups well, but I found it's location to be a PITA. Forget about using your emergency brake unless you adjust your back brakes every 3 days, only alows the handle to travel about 3 clicks. On the plus side, it could probably be modified pretty easily to mount where the stock one mounts. My 2 cents.

I have the one that mounts on the passenger side of the gear shift. Its pretty good but is in the way of people getting in or out of the XJ.

That's the factory one Chris, mine kept getting bumped and knocked out (usually dumping something on the floor), once I put a couple of screws down through the top into the console that problem was solved - oc course, it still gets bumped.

Does anyone know of a place in the area to get the other one? (Emerg brake kind) Would be cool to have another set of holders.

I had one of the sort that went over the handbrake when they first came out. It was very expensive then and I grew to hate the damn thing. the hand brake was next to useless with it there and the console lid didn't close well and eventually the holder broke. Save your money. John

Go to Canadiantire, find one that you can modify to mount where you would like it. Unless one of the dealers has old stock, they don't sell the factory ones any more that mount on the passenger's side of the console.
I wonder what year XJ a friend of mine had??? It had the sping loaded kind that popped out of the front of the stock console over the ebrake.....
