What year did the dana30 switch over to the unit bearing? I swear I remember pressing out the bearings in my 90YJ, but my memory could be foggy. I have 92 axles under it now.
Both wheel bearings are shot and if its the type with just the bearings, it would sure be cheaper.

After CJ's. all unitbearings can be pressed out, its just that it sucks. maybe you cheaped out and forgot about it, and pressed them to save a buck.

It it wasn't readily apparent that it was possible, I doubt I did it. I know my old ford escort was like that.

I've never seen a unitbearing D30 that NEEDED to have pressed bearings. You just replace the whole thing. but obviously there are bearings in there, that can be pressed out. they didn't forge/cast the knuckle around the bearing!

91 and newer unit bearings are different than older ones (because of brakes). The newer ones you can't replace the bearings, race is built into it. For what you can get hubs for now, it's not worth getting the bearings and seals for the older ones, and then having to do the work of changing them too.
The unit bearings started in the 84 XJ.

i could do it to my 88 stuff but its not worth it anymore unless u get the stuff for free and have access to the press.........
Im not even sure they still make the replacements like that anymore..........??
