My newly aquired TJ is in need of some new rubber. Add in Buy Sell and trade has 31" Coopers that buddy used as winter tires one year and had studded. Now he runs 33's all year and want to get rid of the 31s. I've allready bought 235/75 winter tires ($55 a tire at walmart clearance sale), so I'd like to take the studs out and run as my 3 season tires. He's asking $400 for 4 tires with 1 winter and 15" toyota six bolt rims... is that great price?? Finally, can I then reuse these new studs in my winter tires... how hard can it be to drive them in yourself?

It's a lot of work to take them out, but can be done. You'll need the tool for putting them in, and I don't think you'd want to use old ones.

I did that last spring. My Uniroyals were too good to throw out but not good enough for new winter. I pulled the studs out with a small headed flat screwdriver. It was a real pain in the @ss. However summer tires cost me an hour of my time, one cigar and two beer.Godd deal eh? I put at least 20000 more k's on 'em this summer.DON'T put them back in!
