Looking for a set of large size wrenches from 1 1/8 up to 2 inch, or bigger, in sixteenths. Anyone know the best place to find this? Who sells Gray tools?
Thanks, Wayne

Wasn't looking for chinese made ones. Wasn't looking for Snap-On either, just good quality with a lifetime warranty. Toolbox footwear at 900 Windmill? Is this the one?

My Dad has a Grey set, will last forever. But they were bought in the early 80's.
the big-ass wrenches at PA are fine. some are polished, and they do have a lifetime warranty being PA and all.
I've never had a problem with a mid sized set I have, they get leaned into with 4' pipes over 'em more often than not.

I've noticed NAPA tools cost 3X the price, and they are simply rebadged other stuff. tons of PA tools in there with nice packaging.

personally, i like the cheap ones. one doesn't feel quite so bad that he has to cut up a cheap one to make tool # 54987sdfljafg0987-4i ..... lol sometimes it happens

And the odd 9/16 bent to fit around a chevy distributer. When working on hydraulic fittings, you often have to use the open end, and if it spreads under load (i.e. pipe lever), it will round the fitting off. The lesser quality wrenches will open up under load. The box end is usually okay. Just looking for something half decent. Jan, I agree with you on some of the pricing. Just trying to see if there are any deals on a full set up to 2 inch, or bigger. When buying wrenches individually, it soon adds up, no matter where I buy them.

ah, hyd. fittings, ok. I getcha now, its all open end.
Well anyway, the polished ones at PA are wayyyy nicer than the rough finish ones, I've got up to 1.25" so I'm not even sure if they have them as big as you want.

Jet seem to have good prices and warranty - a couple of weeks ago I thought we had decent pricing and would have put some prices up but I can buy from Schooner for the same as I get from Jet - I also have gearwrench but they only go to 1 1/4"; Stellar also have gearwrench, signet and gray.

quite often i make my own open end ones for hyd fittings...... or cut a notch out of a box end... that's what happened to my 1 1/2" last fall. dad mangled it to get a hose off our backhoe.. just e-bayed up a new one
i see there is a couple sets on there, around 200$ with shipping. i think i paid 25$ for one 1 1/2"

I have a wrench I got from princess auto that looks like a pipe wrench but the head is designed specifically to fit hexagonal fittings and there is no spring in the jaw like on a pipe wrench leaving very little play in the jaw. Somebody told me it was specifically designed for hydraulic fittings but I mostly use it on pipe unions. It doesn't sound too special but it makes an excellent back-up wrench and it wont destroy fittings.

I was actually leaning towards PA anyway because of price, I won't be making a living with these, but I just wanted to try to shop around a bit. But I did need a few right away for the job at hand. The mechanic at Wallace Equipment said he has some PA wrenches he uses on the big stuff, and they hold up fine. Soooo, stopped by PA, and they are out of alot of the sizes I needed right away. D'oh. So, I have a nice mixture of wrenches now, even one from Cdn Tire. I still have to wait for restock at PA for the rest. Thanks Diffsmasher, I will check that one out as well.

For any really big stupid stuff, I can CNC something out. I can make a closed box or open end in 3/8"
