Hey all,
Every year for the last little while we have had a Jeep filled weekend in July with donations going to the food bank. It includes a pool tournament on Friday at Dooleys in Bedford, a run on Sat and an Annual BBQ on Sunday.
With membership down a bit and increasing insurance costs over the last couple years, and other circumstances there is not a bunch of money in the coffers to throw around. There will be a Sat run on July 17th for sure as it doesn't cost the club any money and it can happen no matter how many show up (plus Roy is working on a new trail for the stocker friendly side... ;D).
My question is about the other two parts. I am not going to take the time, nor ask anyone else, to organize the pool tournament for the Friday night or the BBQ for Sunday unless there is going to be enough participation. Last year we may have had a dozen people at the BBQ. Don't get me wrong it was fun, but to go out and buy the stuff for the BBQ and ask Bill and Diane to bring their BBQ out, and either have a poor turnout or not know who is going to show up is a lot of work...we could have all went to mic mac tavern for lunch I am sure.
So here's my questions...don't answer if you THINK you can make it.
How many are interested in a pool tournament on Friday 16 July? There is a minimal registration fee to cover the tables and some small prizes...I think it has always been 15 bucks. (Correct price is now posted..thanks Ange...that's why Paula takes care of the money...lol)
.
How many would make the Sunday July 18th BBQ at Oakfield Park? The club covers burgers, dogs, and drinks (non-alcoholic of course)but participants are asked to bring something small to share...dessert, chips etc
If there is enough interest then we will try to organize, and if not that is fine as we do this for the club and if members don't want it that is fine too...We are all busy enough with life to take time to organize events people don't necessarily want, or MIGHT try to make if their cat doesn't have a hairball that day or something....
THanks
John
