x2 watched on tv a couple weeks ago on the military channel two guys had a deuce stuck and pulled it out with rope and 5-6 pully blocks .

6 pulleys would mean you are pulling an insane amount of rope in just to get your jeep to move a couple inches. It works in theory though.
Thats why you use a snatch block if your winch isn't powerful enough to pull you out alone. You double back through the pulley to yourself and pull in twice the amount of line, to move half the distance. However, this doubles the pulling force as well.
