1998 xj with 4.0 litre and automatic. What tranny would be in it? 23 spline??
Dana 300: mounting bolt pattern; is it symmetrical, evenly spaced, or asymmetrical, uneven spacing?
Would the Dana 300 bolt pattern match the trans in the 98 xj? especially if flipped?
Thanks, Wayne

The d300 has the same bolt pattern as the 231....23 spline, round bolt pattern. But you need a 7/8" clocking/spacing ring (Novak) to bolt up to the aw4 as the d300 input bearing retainer will hit the aw4 output retainer. Did mine with a 93 aw4.....not sure if anything is different with the 98.....I doubt it.
I will have said spacer available at some point in time over the next couple months as I'm swapping a 231 into my CJ.

Thanks for the input guys, it is a big help.
Bill: Maybe the XJ's should put in round headlights so they actually look like a JEEP. ;D
